American Express - error message when trying to connect: Fl_WEBSITE_UNAVAILABLE:ccscrape.105:Circuit is broken for 1002 due to URL. Mostly this happens when American Express block Intuit lps. - Has anyone else received this error message? I have been unable to connect to American Express since 11/5/18. Trying to find out either a work around or a resolution.

- edited November 2018I tried to do that, but the error occurs when I try to log onto the AMEX site, so I can't get that far in order to change the Connection type.

I noticed this morning that AmEx has redone their website when I got the 'monthly statement is ready' email, to print my statement.I tried to do that, but the error occurs when I try to log onto the AMEX site, so I can't get that far in order to change the Connection type.
I don't really know about Quicken Mac (using Q for Windows myself), but I thought you should be able to change the connection type directly in Quicken, without having to log on to a website thru your browser.
My Q Win has been using Direct Connect for years, with nary a hitch.
If you can't get a handle on it in Q Mac, please wait until Intuit and AmEx can get their act together again. - edited November 2018
I tried this and it seems to be working now. Thank you for this tip. Very much appreciated.See if you can change the download connection for AmEx to 'Direct Connect' from 'Web Connect'. - edited November 2018

Andy, Please confirm that you were able to change to Direct Connect from within Quicken. If not, see this:I tried to do that, but the error occurs when I try to log onto the AMEX site, so I can't get that far in order to change the Connection type.

@we.newcomb... Where are you seeing Direct Connect grayed out for Amex? What is the exact name of the FI you are selecting for Amex? (It should be 'American Express'.) This might help:Hi Andy,

Choosing Direct ConnectQuicken Mac Subscription; Quicken Mac user since the early 90s - edited November 2018Mine did the same thing. Funny thing is I have 2 AMEX credit cards and it continues to work for one and the other stopped working around Nov 1st. I'm getting the same error as Andy. Both my wife and I have credit cards. The cards are on the same account but have different last numbers to designate between the two. Mine seems to still download but my wife's expenses are not. This just started happening Nov 1st. Nothing else has changed
- edited November 2018I just re-setup my account for direct connect and it works fine now. Weird. The original way worked for years. I hope Amex doesn't charge me for using this function

Amex doesn't charge for Direct Connect. Quicken Connect (Express Web Connect) works by essentially screen scraping the data off the bank's website. So any little change in the website can cause it to break. That's why it's a much less reliable method than Direct Connect. You never know when a site change is going to break Quicken Connect, even after years of working fine.I just re-setup my account for direct connect and it works fine now. Weird.
